Council Governance Review and Upcoming Webinar Announcement

The CDHM Council has begun exploring the concept of a fully appointed Council as part of its ongoing work to ensure its governance structure aligns with evolving regulatory best practices and supports its mandate to act in the public interest.

Currently, Council includes Registered Dental Hygienists (RDHs) elected by the profession, along with public representatives appointed by government. While this model has been common among regulators, governance approaches across Canada continue to evolve. As part of this broader shift, Council is considering whether a fully appointed model for both RDH and public representatives could further strengthen oversight, clarify its public-interest role, and support effective, merit-based appointments and succession planning.

To provide more information and answer questions, Council will host a webinar on April 14th from 7:30–9:00 p.m. Registrants may claim up to 1 hour of CCP credit for participating, provided they complete a short written summary and reflection on how the session enhanced their understanding of the profession’s role in public-interest regulation and the work of Council.

Please note that the session will be recorded; however participant attendance will not be recorded, including for those engaging via the Q & A chat function. The webinar link will be emailed to registrants the day before the session, please monitor your email for this communication.

We also encourage you to review the Council Chair’s update in the latest newsletter and to consider attending the webinar.

We look forward to your participation.
