The CDHM, along with other provincial health regulatory colleges, have been waiting for the Provincial Public Health Order to provide clarity and direction around the August 24th press release on vaccination requirements for healthcare workers in Manitoba. On September 24th, 2021, the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer released Orders requiring vaccination or testing for designated persons working in the public sector. These designated persons are as follows:
1. Health care personnel
Persons who have direct contact with patients, residents and clients at
a) hospitals
b) northern nursing stations operated by the Government of Manitoba

d) facilities operated by Shared Health Inc., a regional health authority, Addictions Foundation of Manitoba or a community service agency that are the subject of a funding agreement with Shared Health Inc. or a regional health authority
e) a residential mental health facility or addictions treatment facility that is operated by or the subject of a funding agreement with the Government of Manitoba.
For certainty, this includes physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, health care aides, cleaning staff, support services staff as well as persons volunteering at those facilities who have direct contact with patients residents and clients.

The CDHM continues to support Manitoba Health and the current public health pandemic response measures, including vaccination to mitigate the highly transmissible variants and strengthen Manitoba’s pandemic management efforts. The CDHM strongly recommends vaccination against COVID-19 for dental hygienists.
The CDHM recognizes that the COVID-19 situation, as well as government response to COVID-19 is continually evolving. The College will continue to monitor, respond and communicate information as it is received.
Thank-you for your continued commitment to oral and overall health.
