On May 26, 2020, the CDHM circulated our first Interim COVID IPC Guideline. Amidst the developing COVID crisis, 5 more iterations of the document were developed. Today, effective immediately, based on Shared Health’s removal of mandatory precautions, and the May 10th removal of masking requirements in healthcare settings, CDHM is removing the Interim IPC Guidance Document. As of June 1st, 2023, the MDA Infection Prevention and Control Practices document will be the IPC Standard Practices document for the CDHM.
Please take time to review this important clinical resource. This document reflects changes in routine practices over the past years. Completion of a Point of Care Risk Assessment (PCRA) is now best practice to determine which measures are needed to provide safe care and protection from exposure. Dental clinical settings will continue to be mask-friendly for patients and staff who choose to wear a mask.
Additional Care Practices are available from here from Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living Manitoba Guidelines for Routine Practices and Additional Precautions: Preventing the Transmission of Infection in Health Care https://www.gov.mb.ca/health/publichealth/cdc/docs/ipc/rpap.pdf
