Register of Dental Hygienists (Practising)
The following individuals are considered to be engaged in the practice of dental hygiene:
A dental hygiene clinician, educator, administrator, manager, health promoter, consultant, researcher or sales representative who represents that he/she is a dental hygienist and engages in the activities that involve the knowledge and/or practice of dental hygiene.
The following is required for registration:
- Completed, signed and dated application form. Be sure to complete all sections.
- Satisfactory proof of identification
- Evidence of dental hygiene education
- Evidence of additional dental hygiene practice modules, if applicable
- Evidence of successful completion of the Canadian National Dental Hygiene Certification Examination or being grand-parented by the NDHCB
- Evidence of completion of a CPR – Level C course in the last 12 months
- Evidence of possession of a minimum $3 million liability insurance coverage
- Evidence of good standing in any other jurisdictions you have been registered or licensed to practise dental hygiene
- Application fee of $75.00
- Annual registration fee of $350.00 or pro-rated fee for new graduates of $175.00 (initial registration)
The CDHM anticipates that establishing a Continuing Competency program will be one of the first tasks of the newly established Council. Until then, requirements include evidence of CPR and minimum practice hours.
