Proposed By-Law Changes

We are closing in on one full year of operating experience under our current bylaws, and have found it prudent to propose some amendments to them. The CDHM by-laws may be repealed or amended at a general meeting by a majority vote of the membership. The amendments proposed are being made for these reasons:
1) to align the bylaws with current, exemplary governance practices
2) to eliminate duplication between the bylaws and our policies, and
3) to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the College.

The key proposed changes involve the following articles of the by-laws:
• Article III – Fees: The addition of an annual renewal due date prior to the
termination of the membership year (January 14th) is being proposed to allow the
CDHM office sufficient time for registration/renewals to be reviewed and
approved by January 15th each year.
• Article IV – Meetings
• Article VI – Council Members
• Article VII – Standing Committees
• Article XII - Distribution of Information

A copy of the proposed by-law changes can be viewed in this document:
Proposed_By-Law_Changes_Aug2009.pdf
It will also be emailed to those members that have supplied email addresses. If you require a hard copy, please contact the CDHM office. As above, voting on the by-law changes may take place in person at the AGM, by mail or by proxy. If you are not attending the AGM and wish to submit a by-law change voting card, please contact the CDHM and one will be sent out to you.
